How Dawg + Hooman Came to Be

How Dawg + Hooman began.. man that is one long story and A LOT of ideas in one tiny brain ( me ).

D+H came from my love for animals, but not just because I think they are the cutest or most loyalest creatures on earth, but how mistreated they get on the daily and the voice they will never ever get to speak. The animals I have owned personally, and worked with showed me this and I will never forget what they have taught me.

Take a minute and think to yourself, have you ever had a long day at work and all you wanna do is go home and crawl into bed and sleep until forever? But here is your cute pal waiting patiently at the door for you to get home SO EXCITED, he waited all day just to lick your face and greet you, and you come through the door, walk right past him maybe give him a hi and a scratch on the back, but then you go to bed and don’t think twice about anything. Now, if you said you’ve never done that, that’s a lie. As much as we’d hate to admit it, we mistreated our baby.

I worked in the veterinary medical field for awhile and I seen a lot and learned a lot as well, it was the best experience ever. I learned right then and there that I wanted to be that voice that animals don’t have. Whether that’s voicing abuse, voicing toys and treats that make them so happy their tail wags so hard it’s gonna fall off. I wanted to voice when they’re said, when they’re angry and how you can tell. I wanted to educate pet parents, families and the communities what life is like through an animals eye, and how we can be the best hoomans possible for our babies.

The boutique part came about because I have an interest in business as well, and I mean come on, who doesn’t just die when they see cute animal products. All my paychecks from work always end up going to my dogs; whether it’s a new bed, more toys they don’t really need, or even just pampering them with treats. However, owning a dog is EXPENSIVE, so the boutique part of Pawsitivity was designed to offer you amazing dog supplies and goodies at an affordable price, because as much as we’d like to buy our fur babies everything, let’s face it when it comes to bills and spending pets are usually the last ones thought about.

Lastly, I would just like to thank the dogs that have influenced this decision in making this boutique and have played major roles in my life.

Thank you Kane, for showing me unconditional love from when I was born and truly raising me and showing me what a girl’s best friend truly is.

Thank you Georgia, for running across the freeway and giving me courage to chase you no matter what the consequences were, and for teaching me to never be selfish when it comes to a pets health.

Thank you Oso, for showing you are small but mighty and will protect your loved ones no matter the cost.

Thank you Champ, for being the most loyal and the most loving dog a girl could have. You warmed my heart and soul, and I am so thankful for all that you gave me.

Thank you Meatball, for all of your unconditional love and endless cuddles on the days I truly needed it.

Thank you Koda, for being my wild child and always reminding me that there is fun to be had no matter how chaotic life gets.
